Rob Sorrenti is an award-winning British director, writer and producer. He is renowned for his critically-acclaimed short films and documentaries. Rob’s productions, including work with Oscar-nominated directors Paul Greengrass and Stephen Daldry, entrepreneur Richard Branson and actor Tom Cruise have reached millions of people globally.
Short films
Rob’s short films have been screened all over the world.
Rob’s short film debut, “Wednesday”, is the story of a girl and boy born on the same day, at the same time, in the same hospital, whose paths cross again years later in the very same place. “Wednesday” was executive produced by four-time Oscar nominated director, Stephen Daldry, and supported by Working Title Films. The film screened at 50 festivals worldwide, and won a raft of awards.
Rob’s second short film, “Hollow”, is a sensitive observation about the nature of addiction, exploring the idea that love isn’t always enough when it comes to getting clean. “Hollow” has been officially selected for 30 film festivals, and received three awards at the Oscar accredited Rhode Island International Film Festival (2011).
Documentaries
In 2004, Rob wrote, produced and directed “The Real Billy Elliot Diaries”, which was nationally broadcast in the UK to an audience of two million.
In 2012 he worked with Stephen Daldry to make “Spirit of the Olympics” – a film about the legacy of the London Olympic Games.
In 2017 Rob created a charity video, showing the devastation and destruction that Hurricane Irma caused on the British Virgin Islands. Kate Winslet provided the voiceover for the piece.
Rob has also directed the story of the Kodiak Queen, a decorated WWII warship that survived Pearl Harbour, transformed into an underwater art installation and marine life habitat by Richard Branson and Maverick1000.
Behind the scenes
In addition to his films and documentaries, Rob has worked for more than a decade with the world’s most respected film studios, television broadcasters, and production companies, delivering original, cinematic, behind-the-scenes and virtual reality 360° content.
Feature films that Rob has worked on include “Billy Elliott” (2000), “Pride and Prejudice” (2005), “The Bourne Ultimatum” (2007), “Atonement” (2007), “Jason Bourne” (2016), “The Mummy” (2017) and “Mission: Impossible – Fallout” (2018).
In February 2018, Rob released the “Mission: Impossible – Fallout” “Helicopter Stunt” featurette, showing Tom Cruise in action behind the scenes. The featurette went viral, gaining more than 2 million viewers in less than two weeks.

Rob is now making his first feature “Angels in the Asylum”.
