RSVP: Camp Maverick

Imagine heading to sleep away camp with a group of exceptional entrepreneurs to learn, play and make a difference. Picture taking everything that is great about camp and adding the Maverick treatment...

August 20-22, 2015

Location: Berkshire Mountains of
Connecticut
(just 90 minutes outside of NYC)

Last year we retired the Underground Online Seminar® and thousands of past attendees wanted to know what was next. The real answer at the time was “I’m not sure.” After a decade of sold-out events and being named one of Forbes ‘Must-Attend’ conferences, it would have been easy to continue year-over-year, but the Internet-only category was just too limiting.

Our mission is to change the way business is played and we wanted to do something really epic for our annual semi-public event.

HENCE...
CAMP MAVERICK WAS BORN

A pristine 300-acres overlooking a sparkling lake in the beautiful Berkshire Mountains of Kent, Connecticut becomes your new playground. And at just 90 minutes outside of NYC, it’s easily accessible but far enough so you’ll be transported to a magical place where you can connect on a deeper level with other exceptional entrepreneurs, grow your business, evolve personally and just have fun like a kid again.

Expert “Camp Counselors”

Your ‘Camp Counselors’ are the experts and top business minds you’d normally see delivering keynotes at
seminars – but not here.

You won’t be sitting in boring presentations or spending countless hours in a generic meeting room. Instead, you’ll actually be taking part in hands-on learning, workshops, and meaningful conversations throughout the 3 days together. At Camp Maverick you’ll curate your own personal experience by selecting which subjects you want to dive deeper into.

Here are just a few of the Camp Counselors we've confirmed so far...

Camp Counselor #1:

Cameron Herold

Cameron Herold is one of the most sought after business minds in North America. Companies around the world are using his techniques to grow their companies exponentially. He’s best known for taking 1-800-Got Junk from $2 million a year to over $106 million a year in just six years as their COO.

What he did was so impressive, it became a case study at the Harvard Business School.

His successes (and yes, the occasional failures) have given him insights into tried-and-true systems that work in the real world. It’s virtually unprecedented to get 3 full days with Cameron in this kind of environment.

Camp Counselor #2:

Andy Nulman

Incorporating surprise into your business might just give you the most important (and totally overlooked) advantage for your business today. It’s the ‘zag’ while others ‘zig’ that makes your product or service buzz-worthy, spreads positive worth-of-mouth and bonds customers like cement to you.

Andy has been a ‘surprise marketer’ before the term even appeared. He’s the CEO of the ‘Just for Laughs’ comedy festival in Montreal (the largest comedy event of its kind) and founder of mobile entertainment company, Airborne Media, which he sold for nearly $100M.

Business in this new economy has changed dramatically!

Your customers expect more, they have higher expectations (which usually aren’t fulfilled) and they pretty much ignore most traditional advertising. What’s more, they can instantly ‘review’ what you deliver for better or worse with a few keystrokes using everything from blogs, yelp, review sites or just firing up Twitter or Facebook.

But there’s something in our arsenal that might just be the spark to positively ignite a web word-of-mouth movement…and that’s using the power of surprise!

Camp Counselor #3:

Jenny Sauer-Klein

Jenny Sauer-Klein is the co-founder of AcroYoga. She has catalyzed an international community and a movement with 100,000+ practitioners on six continents, deemed a “global phenomenon” by Yoga Journal Magazine.

She brings her 15 years of designing and leading live events for tens of thousands of students in over 20 countries, and with groups from 2 to 2000. Jenny will be showcasing her ‘Rock the Room’ trainings to engage in playful and profound ways of increasing trust, collaboration and creativity in any group you lead. You’ll know exactly how to design transformational live events, from workshops and seminars, to talks and trainings.

Jason Hanson

Ex-CIA officer, Jason Hanson has made it his life’s mission to help Americans learn critical survival tactics that can literally mean the difference between life and death for you or a member of your family. Yanik Silver redefines how businesses is played in the 21st century as the intersection of more profits, more fun and more impact.

Starting with his first million-dollar idea at 3 o’clock in the morning, he has bootstrapped 7 other products and services to the 7-figure mark from scratch without funding, taking on debt or even having a real business plan.

Yanik’s story and businesses have been featured in WIRED, TIME.com, USA Today, SmartMoney.com, MSN Money, Entrepreneur, Fox Business News, WORTH.com and the Wall Street Journal among others.

He is the author of several best-selling marketing books and tools including "Maverick Startup,"Instant Sales Letters® & "34 Rules for Maverick Entrepreneurs". Yanik is the host of the annual Underground Online Seminar®, a noted "Top-10 Event for Entrepreneurs" by Forbes.

His latest venture is Maverick1000, a private, invitation-only global network of the top entrepreneurs and industry transformers. This group periodically assembles for breakthrough retreats, rejuvenating experiences and ‘giving forward’ opportunities (to-date raising over $1MM+) with participating icons such as Sir Richard Branson, Tony Hawk, Chris Blackwell, John Paul DeJoria, Tony Hsieh CEO of Zappos.com, Russell Simmons and Tim Ferriss.

Yanik’s lifetime goal is to connect visionary leaders and game changers to catalyze innovative business models and new ideas for solving 100 of the world’s most impactful issues by the year 2100. Leveraging business as a multiplier for good... co-creating something great.

As a self-described "adventure junkie," Yanik has found that his own life-changing experiences such as running with the bulls, flying MiG jets, HALO skydiving, exotic car rallies and Zero-Gravity flights have not expanded his limits but also led to breakthroughs in ideas, focus and business thinking. In between checking off items on his Ultimate Big Life List, he calls Potomac, Maryland home with his wife, Missy, and 2 mini maverick adventurers in the making, Zack & Zoe.

Choose Your Own Amazing Adventures

At Camp Maverick you’ll get to curate your own personal experience by choosing which subjects you want to learn more about, where you need the most help and which activities you want to take part in.

Amazing Activities

You’ll definitely want to take part in dozens of camp activities and unique experiences we’ve got planned for you. Everything from rappelling down a rock ledge, mountain biking through the woods on single track trails, kayaking, paddle boarding, water skiing, soaring through the air on a flying trapeze, the giant swing or down the 350-foot aerial. And, of course, the unique “Great Green Gong Show” and Maverick Color War will be legendary.

But it’s not just wild adventures, daily activities also center on reconnecting to your spirit and source through yoga, meditation and healing practices available with leading experts.

Oh yeah, one more thing – we’ve been known to throw an epic party or two so come prepared.

maverick Bonus

As you may recall, Maverick members previously received a free ticket to the Underground® seminar as a special bonus. Of course, you still needed to pay for your own hotel, meals and drinks, which could have easily added up to $2k or 3k. Well, Camp Maverick is a little different because everything is included. So we've created one low price that basically covers the cost of your lodging, food and drinks. The Maverick1000 member price is just $1,295. Also, your guests get a discounted price of $2,295 each (Max 2).

Deeper connections and meaningful relationships

Living together, playing together and learning together in this shared space creates more meaningful connections and bonds leading to friendships and significant potential business opportunities.

Think about it – this is nowhere close to a typical seminar where attendees disperse to various restaurants or outings. Everyone here is in one spot so the “collisions” and synchronicities from putting together some of the brightest minds in this kind of setting will uncover new resources, capabilities and connections you couldn’t even imagine.

Bottom line- this will be an awesome mix of business growth, high-level connections and a big dose of Maverick Mayhem – Summer Camp style!

Impact Scholarships

A portion of your tuition goes to support scholarships for some of our key Maverick Cause Partners that will be invited to camp:

Each of these incredible organizations is doing innovative work with significant results from alleviating extreme poverty by building micro business in East Africa to working with groups such as ex-offenders, returning military veterans or people with disabilities to provide entrepreneurial opportunities.

Note: There will be optional-time to brainstorm and help these non-profits with their most pressing issues if you’d like to participate while here.

Limited Spots

In order to create a truly remarkable experience, Camp Maverick will be significantly more intimate than any of the previously sold-out Underground® seminars. Instead of 400-500 attendees like we would normally have, we’re paring the numbers down to just 200 campers in total. (100 spots are reserved for the Maverick Global community of Maverick1000, Local City Chapter Members and NEXT’ers.)

And we are only accepting attendees via an application process. If you would like to promote Camp Maverick or bring your mastermind group or invite your own network - just shout and we’ll give you a special link for a group discount.

Q&A

Where is Camp Maverick?

Camp Maverick is in CT, just 90 minutes from New York City and 3 hours from Boston. We’ll have comfortable buses running from the major NYC airports at multiple times or you can choose to make the drive in.

What are the dates and when should I show up/leave?

Camp Maverick will kick off on the evening of August 19th and will end (boo!) with a farewell brunch on August 23rd.

August 19th: Check-In Begins at 5:30pm. Shuttles will be departing LGA airport at 3:30pm, 4:30pm and 5:30pm

August 23rd: Check-Out is at 11:30am. Shuttles will be departing for LGA at 9:00 am, 10:00am, 11:00am and 12pm

Can I show up late?

Well, if you really need to - sure, but who wants to miss part of Camp!? If you do need to come in late, you'll need to arrange for your own transportation from the airport and let us know about your travel plans after you sign up.

What are the "bunks" like?

Staying in the great outdoors doesn’t mean roughing it. Think rustic luxury - your comfortable cabins include air conditioning, private bathrooms and even daily housekeeping. Plus the good news is you’ve only got 2-4 people per cabin.

What kind of food will be there?

The chefs at Camp Maverick come from the nearby Connecticut Culinary Institute and will tempt you with the freshest ingredients; serving up an awesome variety of items for breakfast, lunch and dinner.

What kind of drinks are included?

No cheapo stuff here. All of your drinks are premium brands and if you signed by June 15th, they are included in your registration fee! The bar will include liquor, beer and wine! If you have not signed up by June 15th, you will have the option of buying a bar package or drink tickets on site.

Can I bring electronics?

Yes, you can but why? Being in the moment makes a huge difference so try leaving it all behind. Seriously. We dare you!

Am I too old for camp?

No way! Also, you will be able to decide on which activities you want to participate in and which you don’t...and there will really be something for everyone!

How much time is learning versus fun?

Remember you get to create a lot of your own experience. It’s totally up to you if you want more free time and leisure or want to spend more time digging in with our camp counselors and experts.

Can I bring my kids? My dog?

Camp Maverick is currently an adults only event - that means all campers must be at least 18 years of age. We love pets, but unfortunately they're gonna have to skip out on this one. (We’re definitely considering including families for next year so let us know if that’s something you would be interested in.)
